A faster, better, cheaper blog

I do way too much blogging.

I write for TUAW as one of the co-leads, I teach blogging classes, I’m a WordPress pro, and for years (since 1994) I’ve posted a lot of details about my life online. It even got me in serious trouble with an employer at one time — a fortuitous thing that allowed me to start working for myself.

Well, blogging can be expensive and time-consuming, too. Earlier this year I set up a blog on SquareSpace, and I’ve been spending way too much time trying to tweak the look and too little time writing. It costs me $14 a month, which isn’t much, but adds up to a total of $168 per year. Arrrgh.

So, along with James Lileks, Dave Caolo, and a lot of other bloggers I respect, I’m starting up a Posterous blog to grab my thoughts and photos. SquareSpace is going to get my cancellation notice today, as soon as I scrape my old posts off of there.
